Cathedral Park is a small neighborhood in North Portland that connects North Portland to Northwest Portland. The district shares borders with St. Johns to its north and east and University Park to its southeast. Cathedral Park abuts the Willamette River at the St. Johns Bridge. The main neighborhood park, Cathedral Park, sits underneath the bridge and its a great spot to catch views of the bridge and river.
Cathedral Park neighborhood runs up the banks or the river to N Ivanhoe St and N Lombard St, which form the commercial core of the area. Technically those streets sit in the St. Johns neighborhood, but the shops and restaurants shared by both communities. Railroad tracks encapsulate the northern and southern boundaries of the district. The railroad on the south boundary connects to a railroad bridge into Linnton neighborhood.
Cathedral Park neighborhood was originally part of the original City of St. Johns before annexation by Portland in 1915. The district was named after Cathedral Park.
Cathedral Park is an affordable neighborhood in North Portland when compared to other districts. In recent years, prices surged along with other Portland-area real estate. The neighborhood is close to Northwest Portland and Downtown Portland, which means one is never far from the action.
