Concordia Neighborhood

Concordia is a neighborhood that surrounds Concordia University. It borders Woodlawn, Vernon, and Sabin on the west, Sunderland on the north, Cully on the east, and Alameda and Beaumont-Wilshire on the south. The northern border of Concordia is NE Columbia Blvd, just above the Highway 30B along the railroad, and the southern border includes NE Prescott St and NE Alberta Ct.

Concordia University's Portland campus was a private, nonprofit, Lutheran, liberal arts higher education institution with four colleges of study: the College of Education, the School of Management, the College of Health and Human Services, and the College of Theology, Arts and Sciences. The school also had a nursing program. It's last year of operation was the 2019-2020 academic year. Other schools in the Concordia University System (CUS) are still running.

The Alberta Street Arts District sits within the Concordia Neighborhood along, what you might expect given its name, Alberta Street. This commercial area is home to artsy and funky galleries, locally-owned shops and boutiques, restaurants, and coffee shops. Alberta St is also one of Portland's most culturally diverse neighborhoods. African Americans and Hispanics own many businesses here.

The overall vibe of the Concordia neighborhood is fun, creative, and edgy. It is a vibrant district and many homes in the area have been renovated. Many houses here are small and sit on compact lots. However, the recent economic growth of the community brings news businesses and increasing real estate prices. This uptrend and revitalization of the Concordia neighborhood attract real estate investment, both residential and commercial.

The Concordia neighborhood also has a large park, Fernhill Park, that has an off-leash area for dogs.
