Eliot Neighborhood Info
Northeast Portland's Eliot neighborhood sits along the Willamette River, right across the bridge from Pearl District. Irvington borders it to the east, Boise to the north, and Lloyd to the south. Although irregularly shaped, this neighborhood is located between NE Broadway St and NE Fremont St from south to north, and its eastern border lies on NE 7th Ave.
Eliot has an urban vibe due, in part, to several condominium buildings. However, it also contains several older architectural homes, including Old Portland and Victorian-style houses.
Residents enjoy quick access to Downtown Portland and Pearl District, where many of them work. It's tough to find a better location from which to commute between Northeast Portland to Downtown if one wishes to avoid the premium prices of homes in Pearl District.
For commuters who travel to farther areas of Portland than Downtown, the area's MAX station, which is less than a mile away from Eliot's southernmost boundary at Lloyd Center Mall, comes in handy.
Eliot neighborhood's attractive location attracts commercial redevelopment. While its residential areas are quiet and livable, Eliot residents pay close attention to the pace of commercial development because they want to preserve the neighborhood's vibe despite the inevitable influx of business development that is rushing into the district.
Many restaurants and bars are located on NE Fremont St, its northern border, and N Williams Ave. Two popular breweries here include Ex Novo Brewing Company and Widmer Brothers Brewing. Beam & Anchor is another famous establishment in this neighborhood on Interstate Avenue by an industrial area along the river, selling artisanal and rustic jewelry, candles, soaps, furniture, and home decor.
Legacy Emanuel Medical Center takes up around eight blocks of the district from N Kerby Ave and N Vancouver Ave. But, that is offset by the parks in the neighborhood, which include Lillis Albina City Park and Dawson Park.
