Nob Hill is a densely populated retail and residential sub-neighborhood of Northwest District, known for its artsy shops, boutiques, restaurants, and cafes, many of them occupying charming Victorian houses. Most of the commercial activity the neighborhood runs along two streets: NW 21st and NW 23rd. Locals refer to those streets as "Trendy-third avenue," "Trendy-first avenue," and simply "Northwest".

Portland's Nob Hill was named after San Francisco's Nob Hill, a neighborhood with similar characteristics: historic homes and narrow streets. While there are many older and historical houses on Nob Hill, condominium buildings comprise a significant portion of the housing stock.
