Parkrose is the northernmost neighborhood in East Portland and sits next to Portland International Airport. The neighborhood borders Sumner to the west, Argay to the east, and Parkrose Heights to the south. The northern boundary of Parkrose neighborhood abuts the Columbia River. Parkrose neighborhood is located in the northeastern corner of I-205 and I-84 junction. The community’s eastern boundary is NE 122nd Ave.
Long ago, Parkrose was a small farming community. Now it is a busy residential neighborhood due, in part, to being close to Portland International Airport. Housing is very affordable when compared to the rest of the Portland real estate market. Residents enjoy easy access to restaurants and shopping in Cascade Station, a large shopping mall with popular national chain stores like IKEA. The MAX red line stops in Parkrose so getting to other parts of Portland is quite easy. There is a small park in the district, Senn’s Dairy Park, that features picnic areas, native landscaping, and a community garden.
