Pleasant Valley sits at the far southeast corner of East Portland bordering Happy Valley to the south, Gresham to the east, Powellhurst-Gilbert and Lents neighborhood to the west, and Centennial neighborhood to the north.
Pleasant Valley contains the amazing 611-acre Powell Butte Nature Park which offers a natural area, hiking trails, biking trails, equestrian trails, and a vista point. The park is home to abundant wildlife, including rabbits, ring-necked pheasants, ground squirrels, raccoons, gray foxes, skunks, bats, chipmunks, coyotes, and black-tailed mule deer. Its open meadows, groves of wild hawthorn trees, forested slopes of Western red cedar, and wetlands near Johnson Creek are home to many birds of prey. Other parks in the neighborhood include Eastridge City Park, Kingsley D Bundy City Park, and Clatsop Butte City Park.
Living in Pleasant Valley is not an ideal fit for cosmopolitan types who want to be centered in a bustling city, rather this neighborhood appeals to folks looking for the opposite. It is perfect for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiats. As a matter of fact, the farhter east and south one ventures into Pleasant Valley, the more rural it feels. That said, residents do enjoy the proximity of Clackamas Town Center for shopping and entertainment.
