Sellwood-Moreland abuts the Willamette River giving this Southwest Portland district a bit of green space, river access, and a small-town feel. The neighborhood borders Brooklyn to the north, Eastmoreland to the east, and Milwaukie to the south. It shares half of its southern boundary with Waverly Country Club. The neighborhood links to Southwest Portland via the Sellwood Bridge, the southernmost of Portland’s main bridges.

The Oaks Amusement Park sits on the river and has a wooden skating rink, mini-golf course, wooden coaster rides, and picnic grounds.

Westmoreland and Sellwood Riverfront Parks, both with lush grassy spaces and shade trees, also sit along The Willamette. The area is perfect for catching an up-close view of the Willamette River on a sunny day.

Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge, a 140-acre wetlands and woodlands, is home to 185 bird species that nest here or stop for a quick rest during migration. You will also find the oldest church in Oregon that is still being used, Oaks Pioneer Church, built in 1851.

Sellwood-Moreland has man well-maintained architectural homes in styles, including Victorians, Old Portland, Cottage, Craftsman, and Bungalows. The streets are well-maintained and tree-lined. Front yards are landscaped and tidy.

Sellwood

Sellwood is a very nice neighborhood with little shops and coffee shops; it feels like a small town. It is not particularly trendy and hipster -- like Mississippi, Alberta Arts or Hawthorne -- Sellwood a bit more comfortable and laid-back. Both Sellwood and Westmoreland have their commercial districts.

Moreland

The Moreland neighborhood is further divided into Eastmoreland and Westmoreland. Eastmoreland is the bigger of the two. Westmoreland is smaller, but has Westmoreland City Park.
