Southwest Hills Neighborhood Info
Southwest Hills is a West Hills neighborhood just south of Sunset Highway. It borders Goose Hollow, Bridlemile, Homestead, and Beaverton. Much of the western portion of this neighborhood lies outside of Portland city limits in unincorporated Multnomah County.
This neighborhood is very close to Downtown Portland. For commuters, Southwest Hills is a short distance to Downtown Portland, Portland State University (PSU), and Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU).
As the name of this neighborhood suggests, homes here are perched on hills. Depending on the position a home faces and the weather, great views of Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams, and Mt. Saint Helens can be had.
Southwest Hills has two sub-neighborhoods, Portland Heights and Council Crest.
- Portland Heights sits on the east side of Southwest Hills and abuts Goose Hollow and Washington Park. It is one of the oldest and most exclusive neighborhoods in Portland.
- Due to its elevation and position, some say the best views are in Council Crest. At Council Crest Park, one can take in a spectacular panoramic view of the city and beyond.
Home prices in Southwest Hills are much higher than the Greater Portland average by roughly 40%.
