Southwest Portland Neighborhood Info
Southwest Portland borders Downtown Portland and Highway 26 to the north, the Willamette River to the east, Beaverton and Tigard to the west, and Lake Oswego to the south.
Southwest Portland is known for having great parks and excellent schools. It is also an easy commute to Downtown Portland or Beaverton without fighting traffic congestion on Highway 26.
Lewis & Clark College and Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) sit in Southwest Portland just south of the downtown boundary where Portland State University is located.
Other notable places in the area include the Oregon Zoo, Hoyt Arboretum, Washington Park, Japanese Garden, Tryon Creek State Park, and International Rose Test Garden.
SW Portland can seem pretty suburban and tame. Still, most SW Portlanders looking for nightlife, fine dining, live theatre, or an evening at the symphony can easily travel to downtown or Southeast Portland, where they will find plenty of entertainment options. Residents can also easily cross the Sellwood or Ross Island Bridged to Portland's Eastside hipster neighborhoods.
